What's New in CEDS Development (February 2024)

In February, consultants from Phoenix Advantage were taken on a whirlwind tour of all corners of the County and held several in-person small group discussions with county and regional leadership including representatives from County Administration Campbell County Public Schools, Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance, Town of Altavista, and Economic Development staff. The consultants asked questions about current conditions and projects and sought input about hoped for outcomes from the process. The county and consultants confirmed the expected final report date for the CEDS to be in mid-October which the consultants will present to the Board of Supervisors.

Next steps: Focus group discussions on specific topics which may be geographic (an Altavista group, a Brookneal group, etc.) or industry-specific (agricultural, major manufacturing, etc.) or subject-driven (housing, recreational, etc.). The consulting group will evaluate what information will be most useful and develop a list of topics. Once the topics and modes of discussion are determined, Economic Development will provide a form so residents can be notified of opportunities to participate in specific topics.

As the CEDS development continues, there will be multiple opportunities for community input. Community input is the best way for the CEDS to accurately represent the thoughts and expectations of the entire community in the strategic plan. We encourage all members of the public to participate in upcoming forums and contribute to the project's development.
