New Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund (AFID) Infrastructure Grant Program

Governor Ralph Northam recently announced a new grant program that supports equitable and sustainable food systems for small-scale agricultural producers, farmers markets, and food hubs. The Infrastructure Grant Program, part of the Governor's Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund (AFID), competitively awards matching grants of up to $25,000 in partnership with local governments for community infrastructure development projects that support local food production and sustainable agriculture. Special reduced match requirements are available to projects in economically distressed localities or underserved communities and for those benefiting multiple small--scale producers.

Applications can be submitted from October 1, 2021 through November 15, 2021, with awards announced no later than December 31, 2021. For details on the program, eligibility requirements and link to the application, visit the AFID Infrastructure Grants site.

Additionally, a virtual program overview and workshop on how to apply is scheduled for Friday, October 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. (The link will be recorded for those unable to attend.)
