Holiday Event Roundup!

In the mood for some hot cocoa, bright lights, parades and quality time with Santa? Make plans to visit some of these local events to get in the holiday spirit! (Let us know if we missed one—we’ll update the list!)

Christmas at Hydaway

November 30th-December 2nd (6:00-9:00pm)
Location: Hydaway Outdoor Center 936 Camp Hydaway Road, Lynchburg

• This free nighttime event celebrates the Christmas season with handmade light displays, activities, s'mores, Rookies, hot chocolate, photo points, and more around the Hydaway facility.

Winter Wonderland at Legacy Wealth Management Group

December 1st (5:00-8:00pm)
Location:  Legacy Wealth Management Group 1919 English Tavern Road Lynchburg

• Annual Community Drive-Thru Winter Wonderland on December 1, 2023.
• This is a FREE event!
• Enjoy delicious hot cocoa, cookies and even a visit from Santa! (These goodies will be available ONLY on Friday, December 1st from 5 pm - 8 pm but you can visit any evening throughout the month of December to view the Christmas Lights and make memories with your family and friends. The lights will shine brightly from 5 pm - 11 pm nightly until January 1st.
• Hosts will again be collecting food for the Blue Ridge Food Bank, so bring a canned good if you can, to help out our community.
• The traffic pattern will be similar to last year. Please enter English Tavern Road from the Highland Heights Church side of English Tavern as it will be a "right turn only" into our property. This helps to keep traffic moving smoothly and allows for nearby residents to get to their homes.

Breakfast with Santa at Concord Rescue Squad

December 2nd (8:00am-10:00am:)
Location: 12605 Richmond Hwy, Concord

• Come by and enjoy a hot breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and your choice of bacon or sausage. A beverage is included.
• A reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" will be held at 8:30am.
• Santa will arrive at 9:00am.
• There will be coloring pages and writing letters to Santa for the kids.
• Kids of all ages will have the chance to meet Santa. Pictures will be available, please bring your own camera.
• This community event is for ALL ages, so stop by to see us and enjoy a good time of Christmas cheer.

Altavista Christmas Parade

December 2^nd  (5:00pm)
Location: Main Street, Altavista

• Altavista's Annual Christmas Parade is back again this year with the theme of Winter Wonderland.
• Come out and join Altavista for one of the biggest parades in the area.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshop at Huckleberry Knob Nursery

Village Wonderland at Rustburg Library and the Historic Courthouse

December 2nd (10:00am-12:00pm)
Location: 684 Village Highway, Rustburg

• Someone green is pretending to be Santa in the Rustburg village!
• Bring your family for a morning of magical holiday memories. Take pictures and meet “Santa’s back-up crew” of petting zoo animals. Drop off letters for the real Santa Claus, and have a holly jolly time! There will be crafts, stories, and a free book for each child.
• Activities will be inside and outside the Rustburg Library and Historic Courthouse.

Timberlake Tavern Santa Event

December 3rd (1:00-5:00pm)
Location: 439 Timberlake Drive, Lynchburg

• Frosty Snowball Battle (giant cotton snowballs)
• Santa Shop (Children may shop for family and friends, all items $1, craft area, gift wrapping area.
• Horse Drawn Carriage Rides
• Mr and Mrs Claus picture taking opportunities
• Christmas Tree Lighting and Singing Christmas Carols on the front lawn.

4^th Annual Lighting of the Winfall Community Christmas Tree

Christmas Open House at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill

December 3^rd (1:30-4pm)
Location:1612 Red Hill Rd, Brookneal

• The annual Christmas Open House is back! Guests will be treated to docent-guided tours of the historic buildings, including Patrick Henry’s house and law office, all decorated for the holidays.
• Free hot mulled cider and homemade cookies will be available throughout the afternoon.
• The gift shop will be offering a 10% discount on its regular shop merchandise on this special day.

Santa at Patrick Henry Memorial Library

December 5th, (6:00–7:30 pm)
Location: 204 Lynchburg Avenue, Brookneal

• Take your picture with Santa, enjoy activities together, and have a festive evening under the winter stars!

Santa at the Airport

December 6th (4:00-6:00pm) and December 11th (4:00-6:00pm)
Location: Lynchburg Regional Airport, 350 Terminal Drive Lynchburg

• Come take pictures with Santa at the airport!
• Photo station with Santa in the main airport terminal. Please bring your own camera!
• Those attending will be given a "complimentary" parking pass.

Brookneal Christmas Parade

December 7th (7:00pm)
Location: Main Street, Brookneal

• Get an entry form at the Town Office by Dec 4^th if you would like to participate
• Santa’s rolling in on the Fire Truck, get ready for a great time!

Sundaes with Santa

December 8^th (6:00-8:00pm)
Location: Chick Fil-A ,21123 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg

• Chick-fil-A Timberlake Rd. is hosting Santa himself. Santa is inviting everyone to an Ice Cream Sundae Party
• Ice cream sundae bar will be set up and with all of Santa's favorite toppings.
• Be sure to bring your Christmas list because there won't be a better chance to let Santa know all the necessities for the big day. While your here check out our incredible Christmas display available visible from the drive thru as well as the dining room.

Santa Under the Stars at the Timbrook Library

December 8th, (6:00–8:00 pm)

Holiday Extravaganza at Waterlick Moose Lodge

Annual Deck the Heels 5K

December 9^th (5:00pm)
Location: Booker Building at English Park,517 Broad Street, Altavista

• The best Christmas party in town is back! Join us for the 6th annual Deck the Heels 5k Night Run! 
• Presented by Moore's Electrical and Mechanical, this will be the race of the season as runners get to explore the new race course directly on Main Street. As runners make their way down the beautifully lit downtown following our lead car from CMA Lynchburg, they will cross the bridge going over the Staunton River into Hurt, Virginia.
• Our staging location for the event will be at the Booker Building at English Park. Participants will park, pickup up packets, and walk over the bridge that connects the park and Broad St. to get to the starting line.
• Return to the Booker Building after the race for food, coffee, hot chocolate, and music!
• Each runner receives a one of a kind finisher medal made possible by our Bridge Sponsor - Edward Jones, Randy Cassidy and our Ribbon Sponsor - Vista Pawn. Runner's also receive a long sleeve Deck the Heels 5k Night Run t-shirt sponsored by Proline Embroidery.
