CTE Signing Day Showcases Skilled Workers Added to the Local Workforce

Ryan Hart shakes hands with new employer

On May 24, 2023, the Campbell County Technical Center held their Signing Day celebration, when students graduating from the center’s CTE programs formally accept their full-time employment offers from diverse local businesses. Both employers and students benefit from their coordination with the technical center as the students learn skills and certifications sought by local businesses and the employers have time to know the students and evaluate their abilities and work ethics in work-based learning and job shadowing opportunities.

“(Signing Day) highlights that the traditional 4-year university pathway immediately following high school is not always the best option for all students,” explained Work-Based Learning Coordinator, Ashley Wilson, who emceed the program. “And that that option is not the only one that deems them as bright, talented, and successful.”

The dedication of the students was on full display as Ms. Wilson introduced each of the 16 students individually, described their program pathways, highlighted their earned certifications, and acknowledging that many had done so while participating in their high school’s team sports or while taking additional courses at other institutions.

The following local businesses signed at least one full-time employee for skilled positions during Signing Day:
