Campbell County Public Library System to Receive $10,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

RUSTBURG: Campbell County is pleased to announce that the Campbell County Public Library System (CCPLS) has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Challenge America award of $10,000. This grant will support a large art mural which will be painted on the west side of the Patrick Henry Memorial Library in Brookneal. In total, the NEA will award 257 Challenge America awards totaling $2,570,000 that were announced as part of its first round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

"We are all so excited to have this vibrant mural on the way. It will be a wonderful reflection of the resilient, hospitable, and adventurous spirit of Brookneal," said Patrick Henry Memorial Library Branch Manager Cyndal Nash.  

The art mural will measure over 22' x 14' and will be painted on the west side of the Patrick Henry Memorial Library located at 204 Lynchburg Avenue in Brookneal.

CCPLS is dedicated to meeting the evolving educational, informational, and cultural needs of the public. The Patrick Henry Memorial Library is the heart of the Brookneal community. It has been a source of education and learning opportunities, community events, and pride for the citizens of Brookneal. The building is located on a major thoroughfare in the town and is one of the most known facilities in the town.

Jordan Welborn, Director of Citizen Engagement and Quality of Life & Library Director, will be administering the project. This project is a partnership between the Campbell County Public Library System and Campbell County Department of Economic Development.
