MINUTES
Brookneal /Campbell County Airport Authority

April 28, 2021

Members in Attendance:

  • Tony Cihak, Chairman
  • Carter Elliott, Treasurer
  • John Barksdale
  • C. P. Elliott

Members Absent:

  • Mary Westling
  • Richard Adams

Others in Attendance:

  • Nina Rezai – Economic Development Manager
  • H. D. Campbell – Campbell & Paris Engineers - Consultant
  • Kerr Chase – Campbell & Paris Engineers - Consultant

All Brookneal Campbell County Airport Authority meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of each month at the Citizens Service Building at 7:00 p.m.

Tony Cihak called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

Approval of Minutes:

A motion was made by John Barksdale to approve the minutes of March 24, 2020, seconded by C.P. Elliott and passed unanimously.

Financial:

A motion was made by John Barksdale to approve payment of the bills:  Century Link (Telephone -$77.96), Southside Electric (Electricity -$192.32), seconded by C. P. Elliott and passed unanimously.

Check book balance after current invoices paid is $68,641.79.

Updates:

  • DOVA turned down the tie down area.
  • Bob Kibler (a neighbor) wants to clear up to the fence.  Will need a copy of his certification of insurance.
  • H.D. Campbell and Kerr Chase with Campbell & Paris had a lengthily discussion as to the direction to proceed with airport.  The FFA will not participate with funding for the terminal but will on environmental and excavation.  Will check on feasibility of using individual “carports” for use as a hangar. Will discuss progress with Tony & Nina several times before next meeting.

Manager’s Update:

  • Mary Westling’s Airport Inspection Report is attached.
  • An individual wanted to parachute jump at the airport. This person issued NOTAM without authorization – as a result we need to avoid doing any business with him.
  • Alton Jordon stated airport 32 was not approved for weed control funding.
  • Damage permit was issued for 1 year – Early Pribble and members of the Board authorized to us permit.

Fuel System Update: 

  • Watt Foster and Freddie Wydner at Foster’s will help so the airport can continue to sell fuel.
