Start Small Campbell Grant Program Recipient Awarded | Campbell County, VA Economic Development

Jennifer Swearingen, Owner of Bust A Move Dance Academy is the first recipient of Start Small Campbell Grant Program.

RUSTBURG: Campbell County Economic Development awarded $5,000 through the Start Small Campbell Grant Program. Jennifer Swearingen, owner of Bust A Move Dance Academy in Rustburg, Virginia, was selected as the first recipient of the grant. Swearingen recently completed two Start Smart Courses from the Small Business Development Center – Lynchburg Region among other criteria to be eligible for the grant. Bust A Move Dance Academy brings the art of dance appreciation for all ages to the Rustburg area. Students can enjoy weekly evening classes with options such as Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Creative Movement, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics.

Start Small Campbell Grant Program is geared toward any new business employing 200 people or less and starting business for the first time in Campbell County. To be eligible, an application must be submitted, along with a business plan and the completion of two Start Smart Programs through the Small Business Development Center – Lynchburg Region. Applications are reviewed quarterly with four grants awarded each year.

In coordination with the application process of the grant, two Start Smart Training programs are required. The Small Business Development Center – Lynchburg Region offers these programs periodically for businesses to participate in. Businesses that are interested in taking Start Smart Training in conjunction with applying for the Start Small Campbell Grant Program can take advantage of several upcoming trainings:
