Sonny Merryman to Expand Facility With Electric Bus Charging Station

Sonny Merryman logoRUSTBURG: The Campbell County Board of Supervisors proudly announce an expansion at Sonny Merryman, Inc.’s facility. Sonny Merryman, Inc. will expand their location to include a new charging station for the sale and maintenance of their new electric buses.  

Sonny Merryman, Inc. was founded in 1967 and has served as Virginia’s Bus Company for more than 50 years. Originating as a small bus and trailer business in Rustburg, Sonny Merryman, Inc. has grown into Virginia’s largest transportation dealer and one of the most respected dealerships in North America. With four locations and employing nearly 200 individuals, Sonny Merryman, Inc. is Virginia’s exclusive dealer of Thomas Built Buses, and commercial products. Last year, Sonny Merryman joined the electric bus business and gained a contract with Dominion Energy Virginia for the first phase of an electric school bus rollout in Virginia. 

Sonny Merryman Inc. has been recognized 6 times as the Thomas Dealer of the Year most recently in the Spring of 2020; they are the only dealer in North America to be recognized more than four times.  In August, Virginia Business magazine released the Virginia 500 – The 2020 Power List.
