Santa at the Library

Friday, Nov. 18, 6 – 8 p.m.
Staunton River Memorial Library, Altavista
This event will start with a tree lighting ceremony.

Friday, Dec. 2, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Main Library, Rustburg

Tuesday, Dec. 6, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Patrick Henry Memorial Library, Brookneal

Friday, Dec. 9, 6 – 8 p.m.
Timbrook Library, Timberlake 

Santa will visit all of our library locations in November and December. Bring your family and create magical holiday memories. Take pictures, drop off letters, and have a holly jolly time. For children and families. These events will be similar at all locations. Santa and most activities will be inside the library. Tree lightings will take place outside.

Village Tree Lighting

Friday, Dec. 2, 6 p.m.
Historic Courthouse,
774 Village Highway, Rustburg

We will kick off the month of December by lighting the tree at the Historic Courthouse in Rustburg. Sing carols along with your neighbors and friends as Santa lights the tree. This will be a festive community event also including the Rustburg High School Marching Band and Rustburg United Methodist Church Bell Choir. Everyone is invited. This event is brought to you by the Campbell County Public Library System, the Campbell County Historical Society, and Campbell County Parks & Recreation.

CCPLS Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

  • Pick up kit: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., Patrick Henry Memorial Library, Brookneal
  • Drop off completed house: By Tuesday, Nov. 29 at PHML
  • Displays and voting will take place Dec. 1 – 20.
  • Winners will be notified by December 20
  • Award categories are Kids, Teen, Adult, Family/Group, and Mayor’s Choice.

Gather the family and show off your creative side by building a gingerbread house for the holidays. Create memories with a holiday tradition of creating your own gingerbread house. You may add your own family flair to your gingerbread house. You must preregister on Eventbrite to claim a kit.

Roots Club: Finding Their African American Roots

Thursday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Main library, Rustburg

The Roots Club, a local history genealogy group, has invited Katrice Luck-Brimmer to discuss how her genealogical expertise assisted Air Force veteran Fredrick Miller and his family to discover their ancestral connection to the Sharswood Plantation, located in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Holiday Craftapalooza

Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2 – 4 p.m.
Main library, Rustburg

Celebrate the season and start your gift giving early by creating your own masterpiece for that special someone. Your choice of custom mug or ornament. Teen Trivia

Mondays, Nov. 14, Nov. 28, & Dec. 12, 3 – 4 p.m.
Main library, Rustburg

Teens are invited to the Rustburg Library to hang out and have fun doing themed trivia and other activities while enjoying snacks. You can play trivia as an individual or a team. Ages 12-17 are welcome. Stop by anytime between 3 – 4 p.m.
