Workforce Training

Central Virginia Community College (CVCC), located just north of Campbell County in the City of Lynchburg, is the region's top workforce training center. In a joint venture with Campbell County and CVCC, a satellite workforce training center was established in Campbell County in the early 2000's. The CVCC Altavista Center is located in the Town of Altavista in the southwestern section of the county. This Workforce Training Center has the ability to offer specialized classes as requested by area businesses for training, in addition to offering a traditional community college curriculum.

Engineering Degrees

The field of engineering is one of the fastest growing and most secure career paths in the United States. Thanks to a strong wireless and nuclear presence in both Campbell County and the City of Lynchburg, there is a strong demand for a variety of engineers in this region. A variety of Engineering degrees are offered at local colleges in the region:

Central Virginia Community College - Science, Math, and Engineering
CVCC, in collaboration with local businesses and the University of Virginia, offers local residents the opportunity to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering while remaining in Lynchburg. This unique program allows students to attain an Associate's Degree from CVCC and either complete the Bachelor's Degree on campus or transfer to the University of Virginia. In some cases a local company will sponsor a student, offering free/reduced tuition, a part-time position with the company during the time attending school, a stipend, and possible full-time employment upon completion of the degree program.
