Activities & Festivals
Campbell County Recreation:  The Campbell County Department of Recreation organizes seasonal activities for children and adults.  Recreation also manages the county's parks and coordinates senior citizen activities.  Click the link to be connected with Recreation's current schedule of events and activities.
Future Timbrook Park - Waterlick & Leesville Roads
Uncle Billy's Day Festival:  Held the first weekend of each June, Uncle Billy's Day is a long-time tradition in Campbell County.  Festivities take place at Shreve Park in the Town of Altavista.

Dixie Youth League Striped Bass Festival & Fun Float Day:  Two annual events held in late spring and summer on the Stauton River in Brookneal.

Historical Resources
Avoca Museum:  Homesite of Colonel Charles Lynch, revolutionary patriot and brother of John Lynch.  This restored Virginia Historic Landmark features an eight room Queen Anne style county Victorian home designed by Lynchburg architect John Minor Botts Lewis, a brick kitchen, smoke house, farm office, and gift shop.  Open 11am-3pm, Thurs.-Sat. and 1:30-4:30 Sun. Group tours available by appt.  Admission.  Call 434/369-1076.
Avoca Museum
The National D-Day Memorial:  The nation's memorial to D-Day is located in neighboring Bedford County.  The National D-Day Memorial serves as a permanent physical tribute to the valor, fidelity and sacrifice of the Allied Armed Forces on D-Day, June 6, 1944. 
Red Hill:  The Patrick Henry National Memorial:  Located just outside Campbell County near the Town of Brookneal, rediscover 18th century Virginia and the scenic Staunton River Valley. Fireworks each July 4th.  Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm daily.  (434) 376-2044.
Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest:  Located just north of Campbell County, Thomas Jefferson's working farm was used as his personal retreat home.  Poplar Forest stands as one of the first octagonal residences in this country.  Open April through November.  Hours: Wednesday - Sunday, 10:00am - 4:00pm.  Closed on Thanksgiving Day.  Group tours year-round by appointment.  (434) 525-1806.
Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park:  Directly east of Campbell County, Appomattox Court House marks the site of General Robert E. Lee's surrender during the American Civil War.  Visitors can tour the village while uniformed park rangers or interpreters in period dress provide information on the historic events.  (434) 352-8987
Home of Anne Spencer:  The home of Harlem Renaissance poet Anne Spencer is located at 1313 Pierce Street, Lynchburg, Virginia just north of Campbell County.  Tours by appointment only. (434) 847-1459
